100% BASS Press Release
HOT, HOT, HOT weather (the dog days ? NOT) didn’t stop Jeff Cissell and John Shimamoto who took the field on the Delta, 4th event of the year for 100% Bass Mercury Future Pro Tournament. The Delta tournament for 100% Bass Mercury Future Pro Circuit which was rescheduled from April 15th to Saturday, June 24th started out hot and never cooled down the entire day. This group of anglers had to share the water with the pro team due to the reschedule. This tournament was the first one of this season which was a six hour event per Fish and Game rules. For some of the anglers having less time to fish didn’t affect the weight they brought to the scales while others struggled to bring in a single fish. Not an easy task for some anglers having a slow day and small fish to contend with as well as the scorching temperatures. In the Big Boat Division, the team of Jeff Cissell and John Shimamoto took first place with a limit weighing 18.15 lbs. and their largest fish of 5.68 lbs. This gave them a nice payday of $1870.00 for six hours of work. They told everyone they used frogs and fished them slow in Sand Mound. Just to let you know, if this team was fishing the Pro event they would have been in the top of the field. Great job guys! Second place went to a couple who has been fishing together for several years and a strong supporter of 100% Bass. Barbara and Weldon Birch weighed in their limit of bass, 16.03 lbs. with their kicker of 5.61 lbs. They told the crowd they drop shotted senkos in Frank’s Track and in the West River. This husband and wife team left Russo’s Marina with $1045.00 in their pocket. Third place went to a new team that joined 100% Bass Mercury Future Pro Circuit that morning. Dan Wells and James Burch II (no relation to Weldon and Barbara Birch) caught their bag of fish weighing in at 15.16 lbs. and their big fish at 5.69 lbs. They caught their fish in Old River, Middle River and Franks Track using Persuader Gold Rush Buzz Baits and top water frogs. For their bag of fish they took home a pay check of $775.00. Forth place went to the team of Randy Walker and Phil Garcia who brought to the scales a bag of bass weighing in at 14.23 lbs. and a kicker weighing 6.59 lbs. which gave them winnings of $755.00 to share. Shane Swan and Troy Collier rounded out the top five places this tournament. With another top finish, this team is on the way for Angler of the Year. The weight of their four bass (really needed that fifth fish) was 13.89 lbs. and the larger of them was 4.80 lbs. They took home winnings of $355.00 for Fifth place. I have to mention that Rich Reeser and Kevin Ryan came in Sixth place and brought to the scales two fish in their bag, a HUGE Large Mouth weighing in at 10.96 lbs. The second bass could have been used for bait to catch this one! Their total weight was 12.48 lbs. and their winnings totaled $665.00. The team of Lance Lopes and Todd Hartman, who traveled from their home in Gardnerville, Nevada to join our circuit that morning, this was the first tournament they ever fished and they won the Small Boat Division. They brought to the scales three bass weighing in at 10.04 lbs. and their big fish weighing in at 5.48 lbs. They told the crowd they used senkos, buzz baits and spinner baits, flippin’ and top water in Franks Track and Sand Mound Slough. They received trophies for their efforts. Congratulations and here’s to your new full-time hobby! To all the new members, welcome aboard and to everyone who fishes our circuit, we appreciate you and your support.
