100% BASS   Press Release

7/29/2006 - Delta heat backs off for the 100% Bass Mercury Future Pro Division.

Taking top honors was the team of Gerry Johnson and Clyde Gregston of Modesto take home the jackpot for the days’ winnings on the Delta.  This tournament was another 6 hour event.  The day started out breezy and cooler than the previous tournament with temperatures below 90 degrees, a welcome change!  As the day progressed, the temperatures increased but were still pleasant and the breeze became wind in some locations.  From Russo’s we could see Franks Tract had white caps making it a little harder to fish for some teams.

Gerry Johnson and Clyde Gregston fished their first event with the 100% Bass Mercury Future Pro circuit in the Large Boat division taking the lead.  They got into all the options and took home winnings of $2175.  Their Big Fish took second place with a weight of 6.96 lbs. and topped the scales with their awesome bag of fish weighing 21.97 lbs.  They told the crowd they caught their bass on white spinner baits in Franks Track and Mildred fishing the sparse tules.   Congratulations and welcome aboard.

Part of the regular crew, the team of Don Railback from Sacramento and Steve Hutchinson from Roseville took second place.  They brought to the scales a nice bag of bass weighing 15.64 lbs. and their big fish added to the bag 4.33 lbs.  For their day on the water, they took home winnings of $795.  They told everyone they fished south west Bethel Island using crank baits in red & black colors, ghost and baby bass in 8 foot rip rap and the weed line.

Third place went to the team of Matt Larson from Stockton and Doug Olson from Reno, Nevada.  Matt fished this tournament alone and walked away with winning of $795 for his limit of bass weighing in at 14.59 lbs. and his kicker of

5.60 lbs.  Matt told the crowd that he caught his fish using frogs and jigs in Piper at the sea wall fishing slow.  Great job Matt and welcome back to 100% Bass!

Fourth place went to Rich Martinez and Tim Rogers, both from Woodland.  They brought to the scales a bag weighing in at 13.78 lbs. and their big fish topping the scales for them at 5.64 lbs. They took home a check of $340.00 for their efforts.

The team of Tim Merritt of Lincoln and John Eldred of Elk Grove who brought the Big Fish of the day weighing in at 7.74 lbs. to go along with the other 3 fish they brought to the scales had a combined weight of 13.27 lbs. to take fifth place.  They took home $980 for their six hours of work on the Delta.

In the Small Boat division, Brent Stadther and Joe Berge, both from Sacramento, took first place.  It was a tough day and they brought to the scales three fish totaling 5.48 lbs.

In second place, always doing well was the team of Dave Bialek of Sacramento and Ken Marks of Citrus Heights came to the scales with three fish as well totaling 5.40 lbs.  Their larger fish weighed 2.70 lbs.  Only .08 ounces separated first place from second place in the Small Boat division.

To all the new members, welcome aboard and to everyone who fishes our circuit, we appreciate you and your support.

Special thanks goes to Chuck Russo, the Russo family and staff for their help and support to make our tournaments a success using your facility.
