100% BASS Press Release
1/8/2006 – Davidson / Cox Take home largest check in Team history at Lake McClure Sunday was the start of a whole new year for everyone in the Mother Lode and with great expectation 79 Boats turned out for what was to be a memorable day. Everything started with the announcement that 100% BASS had a new Boat Sponsor (BASSCAT Boats), and with their Quest bonus program, there was now more money than ever before, for supporting our sponsors. We look forward to a great year as fishing could not be any better than it was at Lake McClure. 67 boats weighed in 5 fish limits with the top teams reporting they caught 50 to 75 fish during the event. The key baits this day were brown jigs or 6” plastic worms in shad colors. Finishing atop the field were Kevin Davidson of
Riverbank and Bryan Cox of Oakdale. These guys walked away with everything as Second place went to Atwater’s John Myers and Don Longton. These two are always tough on McClure as this is the second top 5 finish for them on this lake is as many years. Myers said their 15.09 pounds of fish were all caught on Predator 4” worms using both the drop shot method and dart heading in 5 to 30 feet of water. He also stated while they caught fish most everywhere, the south end of the lake was the most productive. The hard work paid off, with a pair of trophies and check in the amount of $3105, I’m sure the drive home was an enjoyable one. The third place finishers, Mark Corrente and John Albidrez traveled from Fresno to spend the weekend with us. They came to the scales with 5 fish that weighed in at 14.01 pounds and netted a reward of $1930 along with a pair of trophies. Corrente told everyone as dark was setting in at the awards, that they two fish worms all day. The difference makers were 6” PRO worms in Purple/death and Pro/Gold fishing an old standard Texas Rig. Finishing in forth was Father and Son Troy Wells Sr. of Ceres and Todd Wells of Modesto with 13.85 pound. It’s good to see these guys back after a couple of year’s layoff. Their check was for $1450 while the fifth place check of $980 went to Bill Park and Joel Langston of Denair. Congratulations to everyone and thanks to all 79 teams for making 100% BASS your first choice in team fishing. 100% BASS would like to thank the fine sponsors that make the difference between fishing and the quality events we are able to provide as a result of their support.
