100% BASS Press Release
January 27, 2007 - Keniry / Moreno Take DVL Season OpenerThe long anticipated first event for the 100% BASS DVL region kicked off Saturday, January 27 with 33 teams vying to be the first 100% DVL champion in its history. The anglers were greeted by partly cloudy skies in the morning and overall beautiful weather . There isn’t a team hotter at DVL right now than the tournament winners, Pat Keniry and Josh Moreno. They took the honors with a five fish limit weighing an impressive 22.61 lbs and won $3750! Not too shabby for a 33 boat field! The pair caught most of their weight first thing on the Rago Real Trout swimbait. Later in the day, they were able to cull some of their fish Carolina Rigging watermelon lizards. Great job guys! Never a stranger to the winner circle, the team of Kyle Grover and Will Rakawitz finished in second place with 18.98 and won $1505 for their efforts. Kyle mentioned that they caught around 15 fish throughout the day with most of them coming on the Carolina Rig and spoons. They will definitely be a team in hot contention for the “Anglers of the Year” honors. Finishing in third place with 18.86 lbs was the team of Tom White and Ed Obymako. The pair caught most of their fish Texas Rigging Oxblood worms in 25’ on the dam. Tom and Ed won $635 and a nice pair of plaques for the wall. Big fish of the event was a 6 ˝ lb fish caught by Rex McConnel. I want to thank all of the teams who participated in the first 100% BASS DVL tournament of the year. It sure seemed like the 100% payback was a big hit, especially for Pat and Josh! Our next event will be on Feb. 24 and I hope to see you all there. Thanks again!
