100% BASS Press Release
2/24/2007 – DVL
Bites Starts to Open Up as Keniry / Avina Win With Nearly 30 Pounds
Today was the second tournament of
the season for the new 100% BASS Diamond Valley region. 27 teams braved
morning temperatures in the low thirties and many expected the bite to be
extremely finicky. It certainly lived up to its expectation, but would prove to
be one of the heaviest top 3 weights in recent memory.
The fish have been in transition recently and
can be caught literally from 2-60. Most of the recent tournaments have been won
with a combination of baits like the LA Slider and Carolina Rigged Bubba Baits.
Adding another notch on their tournament win
belts was the team of Pat Keniry and David Avina. They weighed in an
unbelievable 5 fish limit of 29.61 lbs and won $3590 for their days work. In
addition, Pat won last month’s tournament as well. When looking at their limit
in the basket, it looked like a fat, Clear Lake sack of fish. Pat and David
caught their fish on various baits including swim baits. Our biggest fear is
certainly coming true about Pat and David learning DVL. We might as well just
send them our paychecks. Incredible job Pat and David!
Second place went to the LA Slider chucking
team of Ryan Krost and Josh Moreno. They weighed another massive bag and their
5 largest tipped the scales at 28.54 lbs. Their winnings totaled $1610
and Josh mentioned that they threw the Slider all day long to catch their
weight. Ryan and Josh seem to have the fish dialed right now and are always a
force to be reckoned with.
Matt Metroka and Darren Lacher took third
place with a 5 fish limit of 27.28 lbs. The team won $1050 for third.
Matt and Darren caught most of their fish dead sticking Carolina rigged baits.
That bank account is looking better every time I see you Matt!
Fourth place went to Harry “The Hat” Jioras
and Kurt Hodges with a 5 fish limit of 22.72. The pair credited most of their
weight coming on Carolina Rigged baits and won $430 for their placing. “High
Pitch” is back!
Fifth place went to Kyle Grover and Will
Rakowitz with a nice 5 fish limit of 21.94. They won $340 for their finish and
said that they caught around 20 fish for the day rigging bubba baits.
I want to thank all of you who have supported
100% BASS in it’s inaugural year down South. Once the word gets out and people
realize how good our paybacks are, the sky is the limit. Our next tournament is
on Saturday, March 24 and the fishing should be wide open!
Thanks again,
Brian Linehan
