100% BASS Press Release 1/13/07 – Record Breaking Freeze Didn't Keep Anglers off Millerton! The Big Valley Region held it’s first Tournament of the season at Millerton Lake on 1/13/07. The weather was breaking records of freezing temperatures but this did not stop 55 Teams from battling the elements for a day of fishing. We had 55 Teams with 30 Teams weighing in 5 fish limits. It was a soft plastic bite primarily drop shotting & jig heading from 10-70 ft. deep. 1st Place went to the Father & Son Team: Tim Torres & Jared Torres from Kingsburg. The son Jared came out of an 11 year fishing retirement to take 1st Place with his Dad. They fished aggressively in the Sky Harbor area drop shotting all day. They had a total weight of 12.20 lbs. and 1st Big Fish Winning them a total of $6,207.00. 2nd Place went to the Team of Ryan Vooorhees & Jeff Farmer from Fresno. The fished the Main Lake in 25-35 ft of water using lead heads and worms. They had a total weight of 10.99 lbs which earned them a total of $1,739.00. 3rd Place went to the Team of Ed Alonzo of Pinedale & Jim Betts from Clovis. They caught their fish in the Winchell Cove area drop shotting worms. They had a total weight of 10.83 which earned them $1,591.00. 4th Place went to the Team of Tim Turner & Matt Garrett with a total weight of 9.18 lbs. winning them a total of $1,383.00. 5th Place was won by Bryan Shishido & Steve Salcedo with a total weight of 8.85 lbs winning them a total of $1005.00.
