100% BASS   Press Release

Lake San Antonio – 03/31/07 – Griffith/Solis Top Field at San Antonio

On Saturday, March 31st, the fourth team tournament in the Coastal Region of 100% Bass was held on a beautiful day on Lake San Antonio. A full moon kept the night bright and dampened the bite a little according to the anglers. There were some bass on beds, some cruising and but most were caught “just fishing”. Smallmouth and largemouth were present in about equal numbers as the bags came to the scales.

Mike Griffith and Dave Solis topped the field with 17.23 lbs and they also captured the big fish of the tournament with a nice 5.89 pound largemouth. Mike said the big fish came on a worm in about 8 feet of water just outside the bushes. This team stayed in the 8 foot depth almost all day in the Harris Creek area of the lake.  Early in the day was best for Mike and Dave and the fishing slowed as the day went on. They took home a total of $3580.00  for their work.

The father and son team of Steve and Bryan Grier nailed down second place with 15.28  lbs. They also had the second big fish which tipped the scales at 5.78 pounds. Bryan said that big largemouth was the only fish he caught and it came on an Osprey swimbait. While Bryan threw the swimbait all day, his Dad, Steve caught the balance of their limit on a senko. Bryan said they ran all over the lake and fished some of the same spots more than once. Second was worth $1590.00  Bryan thanked Stratos boats, Dobyns Rods and Keeper Custom worms for all the help.

Joey Davis and Neal Franklin finished 3rd and won $ 1100.00 . Joey and Neal fished the north shore points and Harris Creek with Robo worms to catch  14.77  lbs. They said their bite was best in the afternoon. This third place team also had the third big fish. It was another largemouth that weighed 5.74 lbs.

For the second tournament in a row, fourth place and $430 went to Tim Sharpe and Nic Salvucci while fifth place went to the team of Doug Mount and Junior Spears. Junior wasn’t at the tournament to help Doug with the fishing. He attended his Grandmother’s 90th birthday party. Doug did manage to catch 14. 47 lbs by himself to take home $390. He also caught the 4th big fish that came in at 4.95 pounds.

All the anglers wanted to thank 100% Bass for putting on such a great show.
