Rules Tournament Boat for Sale |
HOT, hot, HOT, hot, HOT fishing and weather for Clear Lake! The morning started out beautiful, calm and warm. Then things heated up from the temperatures to fishing. There was a nice breeze to begin the weigh-in for our half day event. Then when the breeze died down, it got HOT! Because of the hot surface water temperature the Anglers kept the bass in their live wells with aerators on giving the bass the biggest opportunity for survival until it was time to bag their catch for their turn to weigh-in. The weigh-in went smoothly and the staff was given thumbs up for an efficient and timeless weigh-in by the anglers. Only one bass was lost and it died because of a deep hook set so hats off to all of the anglers with their efforts keeping the bass alive. Congratulations to the First Place team of Ron Cormier from Brentwood and Joe Sameron from Walnut Creek who took the win in the Large Boat Division with a limit of bass that weighed in at 23.45 lbs. and their large lunker that topped the scales weighing in at 10.46 lbs. This large bass was the big fish of the event! It always helps to have a ten pound bass in the well. They told the crowd they fished jigs in the south end of the lake to catch their bass. For their time spent on the water, they took home the purse of $3,250.00 that is $541.66 per hour. Not bad for a days work of six hours! Second place was the team of Mike Wildes and Matt Leverich both from Antioch. They brought to the scales a five fish limit that weighed in at 20.22 lbs. They fished Rattle Snake Island and Indian Island areas of the lake using worms and frogs to land their bag of bass. For their efforts they took home winnings of $1430. Jon De Vries and Matt Moreau both of Martinez took Third Place for this event. They fished with flukes in the north end of the lake and Nice in the shallow flats and deeper docks to catch their limit of bass that weighed in at 18.80 lbs. anchored by a big fish weighing in at 7.14 lbs. This gave them a payday of $970 for their hours spent fishing on Clear Lake. It is nice to see our last year’s Anglers of the Year with a plaque in their hands and money in the bank! Great job guys! Forth Place was the team of Dan Wells and Jim Burch from Sacramento who caught a beautiful toad weighing 9.03 lb. That large bass added to their limit making them $1025 for their efforts and giving them a total weight of 17.61 lbs. Jim Wilson from Suisun City and Mike Bartolomucci from Winters took home $575 for Fifth Place. With a weight of 16.51 lbs. and their kicker weighing in at 7.79 lbs. they had a good day of bass fishing. In the Small Boat Division, Robert Butt from Sacramento and Brad Wise from Auburn brought to the scales five bass that weighed 14.60 lbs. They told everyone they drop shotted wacky rigged worms using a slow retrieve and dead sticking in the Jones and Jago Bay areas of the lake. For their efforts they took home winnings of $115. This team has fished primarily in the Large Boat Division but because of a boat problem they fished from a small boat and decided to go fish in that division for this event. Small Boat Second Place went to the team of Lee Dettring of Sonoma and Michael “Joe” Mc Donald of Novato who had four bass totaling 10.66 lbs. and took home trophies for their efforts. Just on the lighter side, we draw boat numbers out of all the contestants who fish this event for the Powell Rods. Prior to this drawing, after the weigh-in Jim Wilson lost his WRL hat in the lake so he purchased another one, however his partner didn’t not want one, shame on him. The word Karma came into my mind as boat number 55 was drawn. Congratulations to Jim and more luck may smile upon you. My recommendation is go to Vegas and enjoy that Powell Rod. My staff and I wish to congratulate everyone who fished this event and to thank you for making it run like clockwork! We will see you on the Delta next month for our last WRL tournament of 2007. 100% BASS would like to thank the fine sponsors that make the difference between fishing and the quality events we are able to provide as a result of their support.
