100% BASS   Press Release

6/9/2007 - EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT.  WRL FINALLY FISHES IN GOOD WEATHER!

RUSHING and ONG TAKE CENTER STAGE!

The Delta is noted for being one of the top fisheries in the country.  Here in California we are extremely lucky to have Clear Lake as well.  With over a thousand miles of waterway, eighty percent of the 91 boats fished in Franks Track.  Franks Track because of the tournaments and all the fish that are released in that area plus the deep water access, current and great food source create an excellent living environment for bass.  Big fish were consistent.  For the top five Big Fish positions you had to bring in a fish over 7 lbs. to take a check.  The weather turned out to be a beautiful spring day.

The team of Ron Rushing and Gary Ong both from Sacramento took home the top spot with 24.00 lbs. with a solid bag of bass anchored by a 6.13 lb.  Ron has been fishing with 100% Bass with my division for several years and with the addition of his partner Gary Ong, this is a team to recon with.  On this Saturday for their efforts they took home a payday of $2200.00 for first place.  When they picked up their check and trophies, they told the crowd that they caught their fish on Blue Gill Senkos wacky rigged in Piper Slough.  Congratulations!

In Second place with the total weight of 23.85 lbs. was the team of John Kirgan and Bill Knecht from Fairfield.  They brought the Big Fish of the tournament to the scales.  John helped his team out immensely when he landed this monster that weighed 9.87 lbs.  They fished in Franks Track and Whites Slough for their limit using a variety of baits.  Versatility was their game plan.  They took home winnings of $2830.00 for their days work.  Great job guys!

Steve Kruzic and Jason Garcia from Rocklin took third place with a five fish limit that weighed of 23.14 lbs. anchored by a nice bass that weighed 7.27 lbs. Pitching jigs was the key to their success for their payday of $1380.00.  I like to see these guys do well. They have been with this division for several years supporting 100% Bass.  My hats off to them!

Bringing to the scales with a bag weighing 21.94 lbs. also having a nice kicker that weighed 7.23 lbs. was the team of Philip Garcia and Michael Sperbeck from Yuba City that took fourth place.  For their efforts they took home winnings of $880.00 for a days work.

Rounding out the top five in the Big Boat Division was the team of Medley King of Pleasant Hill and Jerry Whitney of Martinez. Medley King has been a supporter of 100% Bass for more years than I can count!  He has worked with Bob Kornhauser running tournaments, not fishing them but learning the whole time.  Great job Team!  Their bag tipped the scale at 21.63 lbs. with another 7 plus lb. Big Fish!  For their day on the water they took home winnings of $505.00.

EXTRA, EXTRA, SMALL BOAT TAKES FIFTH BIGGEST SACK OF THE TOURNAMENT THAT WEIGHED 21.77 LBS.!

That’s right; the team of Jeff Hardin from Sacramento and Paul Eusey from Chico not only take first place in the Small Boat Division but show that keeping your line wet can pay dividends with a check for $305.00.  This team told the crowd that they fished in Franks Track throwing multiple different baits in other words, they threw the kitchen sink.  Great Job!!  The crowd cheers!

The 20/20 Solar Bat Sun Glasses were awarded to the team of Richard Vincent Sr. and Richard Vincent Jr.  Thanks Solar Bat for your support!

Boat number 59 was drawn for the Powell Rods however this team was not present to win.  OOPS!  These two Powell Rods will be given away at our TOC.

I’d like to thank my staff, Russo’s and everyone who helped in this event to make this tournament run smooth.
