100% BASS Press Release 01/05/08 - Malikian / Linehan Take 2nd Stop on DVL Under Monster Conditions The second event of the 100% BASS DVL region was called by many, the “Ironman.” Why? Lets just say that the 17 teams who competed were welcomed in the morning by 20-30 mph winds and pouring rain. Weather forecasters were claiming that the storm was the largest in the last 5 years. Yet, the fishermen still showed up. Once sign-ups were done and all boats were launched, the weather cooperated, but it was still a cold and wet day for all. However, like all tournaments, somebody always catches them and that’s exactly what happened. Finishing in first place was the team of Manas Malikian and Kevin Linehan. They had a 5 fish limit totaling 25.84 lbs and also had the “Big Bass” of the contest at 6.78 lbs. For only a 17 team field, the pair won $2970! That’s a huge payback for such a small field. Kevin and Manas caught their fish on a combination of swimbaits and Roboworms. Manas mentioned that they caught 11 keepers all day and that the bit was good in the morning and late afternoon. They also wanted to thank their sponsors, Dobyns Rods, Roboworm, and Sunline. Finishing in second was the always tough team of Pat Keniry and David Avina. Pat and David had a 5 fish limit for 22.39 lbs and won $1050. Pat and David caught their fish on a variety of baits as well, but said that the swimbait was their best bait. Pat is sponsored by Rago Baits. Great job guys. Taking third was Will Rakowitz and Frank Morrin. They also had a 5 fish limit and weighed 22.33 lbs. The pair won $650 and said that they caught their fish C-rigging and also on swimbaits. Frank also caught a beautiful 8.23 lb. Rainbow Trout on a swimbait during the event. They also wanted to thank their sponsor, Angler’s Marine. Our next tournament is Saturday, February 2 and lets hope the weather is a little more pleasant for everyone. Thanks for supporting 100% BASS and I’ll see you next month. Brian Linehan
