100% BASS Press Release 4/19/2008 - Jason Vigil and Jaren Mack Win At Oroville in the WRL Event Oroville became known as “the windy
city”; the second stop for the 100% Bass Western Rookie League. Mother Nature
was not too kind to the anglers on the lake. The wind gusts blew everything
from bow to stern. The anglers who fished this event we grateful that the lake
didn’t have whitecaps like Berryessa did last month but the wind did make it
tough for some of the anglers. Second place went to the team of Michael O’Neill from Citrus Heights and Tony Koregolos of Fair Oaks who brought to the scales a nice kicker that weighed 3.43 lbs, which was the third big fish for this event and a total weight that was 11.43 lbs. They told everyone they fished the north end of the lake using weightless worms and Sweet Beavers to catch their limit. They took home a paycheck of $930 for their battle with the wind. Third place was the team of Bob Mc Nabb from Fremont and Glenn Vargas Jr. from Campbell. Their bag of bass weighed in at 10.55 lbs. Their bass were all cookie cutter in size. They told everyone they fished the north arms of the lake split shotting, dartheading using Oxblood worms and Sweet Beavers also Carolina rigging lizards. They went home with a nice payday of $1170 for their efforts. Forth place was the team of Matthew Clark from Gilroy and Johnny Beasley of Elk Grove. They had a limit weighing in at 10.13 lbs. Their largest bass was 2.18 lbs., not big enough to place in the Big Fish category but it was a nice sized bass to add to their weight giving them $780 to take home. Rounding out the top five; Joey Letsinger from Sacramento and Chris Garner of Yuba City who took home $355 for Fifth place in the Large Boat Division. The weight of their limit was 9.97 lbs. In the Small Boat Division, the team of Keven Stone and Eric Matta both from Salinas, took home First place with a weight of 9.82 lbs. and winnings totaling $310 for coming in Eighth place overall in the money pool! The big state of Texas was used to catch their fish! (Texas Style!) Great job guys! I would like to add that Peter Daru from Sacramento and John Kalafatich of West Sacramento brought to the scales the Fifth place Big Fish that weighed 2.69 lbs.....so having a smaller boat and motor proves you still have the capability to catch the larger bass! Great job to all the teams who overcame and conquered the wind to do well in this event! Jason Mikels and Rick Collier won the 20-20 “Eye Surrender” sunglasses and they also had the second largest fish in this event that weighed 3.53 lbs. So not only did they come in 20th place, they took home some gas money for that kicker. Congratulations to everyone. All the new members of 100% Bass; welcome aboard and for the others who have been with us, thank you for your continued support. I would like to add, if you see someone having boat – motor problems, you must stop to render help and / or tow that person in, by law. I would like to thank my staff for another job well done! To Medley King and Jerry Whitney, thank you for helping out our team during the weigh-in at this event. A special thanks goes to Don Reighley for supplying the Release Boat making the weigh-in process run more quickly and the bass less stressed when released back into the lake. 100% BASS would like to thank the fine sponsors that make the difference between fishing and the quality events we are able to provide as a result of their support.
